Replacement of implants

Due to the number of women who have undergone implant augmentation over the years, we are seeing more and more women with implants now 10, 20, 30 year old.  For some, with time they are happy to simply remove the old implant, for others, they would like to keep the augmented breast shape.

Replacement of implants

The old implants may have leaked or become encapsulated - where the body forms an increasingly firm scar tissue shell around the implant, often causing the implant to ride up on the chest wall.  With minor leakage, or encapsulation, the old implants can be removed, the capsule either removed completely (capsulectomy) or released inside (capsulotomy), to allow the new implants to sit in a better place within the breast.  New silicone implants of a size discussed pre-op will be inserted.

Should there be considerable contamination from leaking implants, Amy may advise simply removing the implants, performing a capsulectomy and letting your body’s tissues recover for 6 months, before returning to place new implants.

Depending on the complexity of revision implant surgery, this may require an overnight stay.

Prices

The complexity of your individual case will be thoroughly discussed, as this will affect the price.
