Looking after you
We recognise that choosing to have surgery to enhance or improve your body is a huge decision and also a financial investment in your self esteem. Amy will guide you through the process of deciding on a change, how this will fit with your way of life, sports, hobbies etc. She will ensure that your aspirations are a good fit with your actual body shape and natural tissues - the aim is that the final result will feel the best version of yourself, enhanced yet natural.
Looking after you
Amy is entirely honest in her discussion about your surgery - she will explain if she is concerned that your chosen outcome is not suitable for you, and why. Ultimately, she wants you to be delighted with the result, and minimise the risk of complications.
Recognising that there is much to discuss during a consultation, you will e-mail Amy prior to your appointment with essential information about yourself and your aspirations for surgery, any photographs, and ideally any images of the outcome you are seeking. This will allow you to move on to a more in depth consultation face to face.
During your face to face appointment, Amy will thoroughly explore your wishes. Please bring any materials such as photos of your ideal outcome, and this will be discussed.
Medical photographs are an essential part of your patient notes, and will be taken to document your journey. Your written consent will be required, and the photographs will be securely stored according to GDPR guidelines. You will have the opportunity to see photographs of patients who have previously completed surgery similar to that you are embarking on.
Once a plan for surgery has been agreed, written information and consent forms will be provided, for you to take home and read at your leisure prior to surgery. A provisional date for surgery may be offered if you are happy to move ahead at this point. A 'cooling off' period following your initial consultation is essential, to digest all everything discussed and be fully happy to move forward, with surgery or not! If you need more time, or a further appointment, this can be arranged.
Amy will arrange a second appointment, which can be face to face, phone or Zoom, prior to surgery. She will answer any last minute questions and ensure that you are entirely happy in the run up to surgery.

On admission for your surgery, you'll be given a care package which includes some nibbles for post-op munchies (please inform Amy of any allergies, dietary requests etc), your post-surgery bra and some skin care treats to pamper yourself while you recover.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long will I need to stay in hospital?
Most operations can be performed as a day case; at the most there will be one night in hospital and home the next morning. Amy will check you post operatively and give you written information to take home to keep recovery simple.

What will happen after I am discharged from hospital?
You will be phoned 48 hours post - operatively to check on your progress.
Approximately 8 days post operatively Amy will see you in clinic for an initial wound check, and make sure that recovery is proceeding as planned.
Approximately 16-25 days post operatively Amy will again review you in clinic for a final wound check, post -operative photographs and to discharge you from routine care.

Amy operates an open-door policy: if you have any queries, or are a little worried about something, however small, she will see you as soon as possible.

Do I need any special bras for after surgery?
We recommend a non underwired, sports bra type, with a wide band against your ribs beneath your breasts, front fastening to avoid having to raise your arms above your head. You will be provided with one post op bra to go home with. Most large supermarkets have simple bras which are suitable, so you can have a few to use day and night.

How long will I take to heal?
Your wounds will be closed with dissolvable stitches under the skin, then surgical skin glue, sterile strips and a waterproof dressing. You will be advised regarding the dressings prior to discharge from hospital. By about 4 weeks post op all dressings are usually removed. The scars will remain pink/red (depending on skin type and tone) for up to a year before fading.

How long will I need off work?
We recommend at least 4 weeks off work so you can gradually recover from surgery. Some larger or more complex cases may necessitate 6 weeks off. This will be discussed with you.
During this recovery period Amy recommends that you keep mobile, walking is fine, with gentle arm movements but no heavy lifting or raising your arms above your head. After your post-op checks you can gradually increase your activity to normal levels.

When can I start exercising?
You can walk around straight away - no definite restrictions but clearly not walking a marathon! For the first two weeks no more than gentle walking. After two weeks this can be increased to non impact exercise such as gentle cycling. After six weeks swimming and jogging can be reintroduced, with a supportive bra. After this point listen to your body and increase activity accordingly.
